LOOKING TO LOSE WEIGHT, BECOME HEALTHIER, INCREASE YOUR ENERGY LEVELS, OR ANY COMBINATION OF THESE? NO MATTER WHAT YOUR GOAL IS, YOU AREN’T GOING TO REACH IT SITTING ON THE COUCH.
I’VE PERSONALLY BEEN INSPIRED BY THE PEOPLE AROUND ME OR PEOPLE THAT I’M AWARE OF WHO HAVE STEPPED UP AND TAKEN ON A CHALLENGE LATELY, LIKE A 5K OR A MUD RUN OR CLIMBING A MOUNTAIN AND DOING A HANDSTAND ON IT JUST TO SPITE IT. I’M ESPECIALLY MOVED WHEN I SEE PEOPLE INSPIRING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS. WHEN CHILDREN SEE THEIR PARENTS BEING ACTIVE, TAKING PART IN A RACE OR OTHER CHALLENGE, THEY WILL FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE AND THEY WILL BE MORE LIKELY TO BE HEALTHY FOR LIFE.
BEING COMPETITIVELY MINDED IS A GOOD THING. IT MOTIVATES YOU TO NOT BE SATISFIED WITH WHERE YOU ARE NOW.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A COMPETITIVE CYCLIST LIKE THE MANIAC IN THE PHOTO BELOW, BUT YOU CAN LEARN SOMETHING FROM HIM. THIS GUY DOESN’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING UNHEALTHY. HE ALWAYS HAS A GOAL IN MIND. IT CAN BE ANOTHER RACE, A BETTER TIME ON A RACE, OR A LONGER RACE IN A MORE CHALLENGING ENVIRONMENT.BUT NO MATTER WHAT, HE’S ALWAYS MOVING FORWARD.
I LOVE SEEING PEOPLE TAKE ON THESE CHALLENGES. LIKE THESE FOLKS BELOW TAKING ON ANOTHER RUN. PEOPLE LIKE THIS PERFECTLY ILLUSTRATE EXACTLY WHAT THE REGULAR SUPER HUMANS BLOG IS ALL ABOUT. THEY HAVE JOBS, THEY HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES, THEY HAVE OBSTACLES TO REACHING THEIR FITNESS GOALS, BUT THEY STILL FIND TIME TO TACKLE CHALLENGES. THAT MAKES THESE PEOPLE FREAKIN AWESOME.
TAKING ON A CHALLENGE LIKE A 5K OR MUD RUN OR A WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE CONTRIBUTES GREATLY TO HAVING AN OVERALL ACTIVE LIFESTYLE. THAT’S RIGHT. WE DON’T HAVE TO LIMIT OURSELVES TO ORGANIZED EXERCISE CHALLENGES. WE CAN BE LIKE THIS ANIMAL BELOW AND TAKE ON CHALLENGES WHENEVER THEY COME UP. HAVING A GOAL IN MIND WILL ALSO HELP YOU TO BE READY FOR THESE CHALLENGES WHENEVER THEY ARISE. IT’S A WIN-WIN SITUATION.
I’M EVEN NOTICING PEOPLE WHO ARE JUST STARTING TO LEAD AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE AGAIN AFTER NOT BEING ABLE TO MAKE THE TIME FOR IT IN A LONG TIME. A GREAT WAY TO DO THIS IS BY JOINING A LEAGUE OF SOME KIND. LIKE THIS GUY BELOW WHO DECIDED TO JOIN A LEAGUE AND THIS MOTIVATED HIM TO WANT TO START EXERCISING AGAIN SO THAT HE COULD DOMINATE THE COMPETITION AND HAVE A GOOD TIME. IT’S NEVER TOO LATE, UNTIL TOMORROW. THE TIME IS NOW.
DECIDING TO COMPLETE A CHALLENGE CAN COMPLETELY CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE AND YOUR MINDSET. BECOME THE KIND OF PERSON WHO WON’T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER ! YOU CAN BECOME A PERSON WHO CAN WEATHER A STORM AND STILL COME OUT ON TOP OF A SITUATION. MAKE THE DECISION TO BE UNSTOPPABLE. NOW I DON’T RECOMMEND SIGNING UP TO TAKE AND RECEIVE PUNCHES, KICKS, ARM BARS, AND THROWS. WE CAN LEAVE THAT TO THIS GUY. I LOOK AT PEOPLE LIKE THIS AND I SAY, “IF THIS GUY CAN TRAIN TO TAKE AND GIVE SO MUCH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL PUNISHMENT, THEN I CAN SURELY GET MY BUTT OUT OF BED AND GO WORKOUT FOR AN HOUR.”
WHOLE FAMILIES ARE GETTING INTO THE ACTION. YOU CAN SEE THIS IN THE PICTURE BELOW. MY TWO BROTHERS, MY FATHER, MY WONDERFUL WIFE AND I DECIDED TO DO OUR FIRST MUD/OBSTACLE COURSE RUN. NONE OF US HAD DONE THIS BEFORE. BUT AS A GROUP, WE DECIDED THAT MEDIOCRITY WAS UNACCEPTABLE. BECAUSE THE RACE WAS COMING UP, ALL OF US WERE MORE MOTIVATED TO STICK TO A REGULAR ROUTINE. THIS HELPED OUR HEALTH AND OUR PERFORMANCE.

THE OTHER GROUP WAS FOREIGN AND SO THE TWO GROUPS HAD A HARD TIME COMMUNICATING. BUT THEIR COMPETITIVE, ACTIVE MINDS WERE DRAWN TO ONE ANOTHER AND THIS LED TO THE MOST EPIC GAME OF SOCCER EVER PLAYED IN THE HIGH SIERRAS!
IT SEEMS LIKE THE PEOPLE AROUND ME ARE GETTING MORE AND MORE ACTIVE AND THIS SIMPLY FIRES ME UP AND INSPIRES ME. I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT TIME WHEN I CAN CHALLENGE MYSELF. WHILE WRITING THIS BLOG, I GOT A TEXT LETTING ME KNOW THAT MY LITTLE BROTHER SIGNED UP TO COMPETE IN THE WHAT MIGHT BE THE TOUGHEST MUD RUN IN THE WORLD, THE TOUGH MUDDER!
